Extended Edition

Synopsis: David Lynch wades through dark waters in his adaptation of Frank Herbert's cult science fiction novel. In condensing Herbert's rambling and complex book by eliminating characters and compacting events, Lynch succeeds in rendering the story incomprehensible to those unfamiliar with the novel and making the film look like a sketchy greatest hits collection of the book for Herbert fans. The story takes place in the year 10,191. The universe is governed through a system of feudal rule, presided over by Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV (José Ferrer), who appears to take his marching orders from something that resembles a talking vagina. In the kingdom are two rival houses -- the House of Atreides and the House of Harkonnen. Each house is trying to gain dominion over the universe, but that dominion can only be gained by the house that controls the Spice, a special substance that permits the folding of time. The Spice is only available on the desert world of Arrakis, or Dune. Shaddam, tired of the feuding between the two houses, permits the Atreides to take over the Spice production on Dune, while secretly working with the Harkonnens to launch a sneak attack on the Atreides and destroy them. The leader of the Atreides is Duke Leto (Jürgen Prochnow), who rules with the help of his concubine Jessica (Francesca Annis) and son Paul (Kyle MacLachlan). The rival Harkonnens are headed by the pus-oozing degenerate Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Kenneth McMillan, in a thoroughly through-the-roof performance) and his two unsavory nephews, Rabban (Paul L. Smith) and Feyd (Sting). When his father is murdered by the Harkonnens, Paul escapes to Dune, where he is greeted by the Fremen (the desert dwellers on Dune who prepare the Spice) as the messiah foretold in Fremen legend. Paul assumes the mantle of messiah and leads the Fremen in a revolt that topples the balance of power in the universe.

Hating to agree with trolls. But yeah this version is extremely lacking, it's like a fucking Disney movie or something.
thanks.
Finally found it....this was what I was looking for. Pay no attention to the people that are bitching. This was the EXTENDED version of David Lynch's movie and no.....they did not acquire or need his permission to come out with the extended version and needed to be done fast. I can live with the drawn painted rendering as someone called cartoons (moron). I simply love the extended scenes like Gurney playing his instrument. thank you THANK YOU!!!!
Again I have to comment that this was what I was looking for and cannot thank you enough......how can the others here be bitching about this or that....so what....David Lynch kindly asked his name be taken from the credits and what happened was his credit was put under another name....just the quote from Gurney "Behold....as a wild ass in the desert do I go forth to my work" is reason enough to download LOL.......again thank you.....and YES NOW I HAVE BOTH VERSIONS...AWESOME!!!!!
You guys need to do some research. I'm not sure about the extended cut but I know the original cut had nothing to do with Lynch. He did not have final cut of this movie and he hated the final cut. He completely renounced and refused to talk about it in interviews he felt they had ruined his movie. From what I've read when approached to do a directors cut he was so pissed he declined and truly wants nothing to do with this movie. The extended cut is probably closer to his original vision than the original although I can't say for sure. But stop saying the original was Lynch's because honestly neither of these cuts probably had anything to with him.
Excellent quality, thanks *S
lot of thanks!
ty upper
the theatrical, original version had its shortcomings, but this...

..this version, as stated above, is just plain ridiculous!

(audio and video are both ok, anyway)
8: Great, fast download.

Quality not as good as you would expect from a 2GB file. Small resolution does not translate into a fine picture when scaled to a larger one. Expect s you would a 1.38GB file and you won't be disappointed.
Thank you
Now I have 4 different versions of this movie.
A:8 V:8.

Loving it. Saw the Lynch version years ago but it felt short and badly edited. This version is a real sprawling epic that does the book more justice.

Shame the lead actor playing Paul is pretty terrible, as is the actor playing Paul's father. Harkonnens are also pretty bad. Deserves to be made into a film with the quality of Peter Jackson's LOTR.
